Teachers with U.S. teacher training qualifications
Native-speaking teachers with pedagogical expertise will guide students from elementary to high school levels (grades 1–12), helping them develop accurate pronunciation and foundational knowledge based on the public curriculum of the state of North Carolina. Students at the private school Sion North Wake Academy are provided maximum academic support during each summer to enable early graduation from the 12th-grade program, provided that their academic record contains no C grades.
Student Success Expectations
Students are expected to demonstrate strong academic discipline and consistently monitor their learning progress throughout the school year.
To achieve English language proficiency comparable to that of native speakers in listening, speaking, reading, and academic writing, students should allow sufficient time for language development:
• Elementary School Students (Grades 1–5): A minimum of one year is recommended to build a strong foundation in English communication and writing skills.
• Middle School Students (Grades 6–8): A minimum of two years is recommended to develop academic English proficiency and prepare for advanced coursework.
• High School Students (Grades 9–12): A minimum of three to four years is strongly recommended to develop advanced academic English skills, prepare for the SAT, and maximize opportunities for college admissions and scholarship applications.
Students who begin their studies earlier generally have greater opportunities to strengthen their academic performance, improve standardized test scores, and compete successfully for merit-based scholarships at colleges and universities in the United States and Europe.
College and Career Readiness
Students at Sion North Wake Academy (SNWA) receive live instruction from native English-speaking teachers in the United States. In addition to academic coursework, students are guided by academic advisors and homeroom teachers in exploring future college majors and career pathways.
Beginning in Grade 10, students receive structured SAT preparation designed to strengthen their academic foundation, critical thinking skills, and English language proficiency. The program emphasizes reading, writing, communication, and college readiness skills necessary for success in higher education.
Through consistent academic guidance, English immersion, and SAT preparation, SNWA equips students with the knowledge, confidence, and communication skills needed to compete for admission and scholarship opportunities at colleges and universities in the United States and Europe.
